DA-427.2 STRIKING GLASS

HELP This is the first time working with this glass. I got pretty colors but I think there should be more blues and greens not the brown tones. The beads are made with two rods the same color the last two beads on the right looking at the computer screen are black base with DA-427.2 on top. Has anyone worked with this glass I would love to hear from you.

  1. Sorry, I can't help with the glass Pam...but I do like the beads! Browns! My Favorites! I think they are yummy!

  2. Pam - I bought some too, and have not been happy with it yet. I am getting only browns and I know there's supposed to be greens, blues and purples in it. Sarah Hornick is supposed to be a master at this glass (I bought it because she recommended it so highly). If you come across any info, let me know, and I'll do likewise!

  3. Sue I have an email to Brad of Striking glass but I don't think he emails people. There is got to be a secret we are missing. They looked so pretty before I put into the kiln. I had one it looked like it was bleeding purple and blue.

  4. Hi Pam! Lorelei sent me a link to this post asking if I might have suggestions. I have bought a ton of this glass from Brad since he joined Southern Flames last fall/winter.

The colors in StrikingColor glass come out more after cooling. Cooling much longer than I am used to waiting, so I have had my share of blue beads go into the kiln and come out brown. You can get better color reactions if you cool it quickly before reheating or waiting longer before reheating (loooong after the glow is gone).

I have also gotten great reactions with his glass by melting it on top of clear (lots of ambers, reds, purples!) and more yellow when encasing it under clear. I think the difference in glass temps touching each other helps that.

I have a couple pics of dots on black and then swirls over clear in this post --> http://kelleysbeads.blogspot.com/2008/12/torch-jewelry-gno-or-rather-gni.html
